Chief Underwriting Officer
Christopher Bredholt is the Chief Underwriting Officer for the Development Guarantee Group, which was co-founded with Cardano Development. He is part of the senior management team responsible for developing and scaling the guarantee business of the Green Guarantee Company (GGC). GGC provides guarantees to credit enhance climate finance bonds and loans in EMDEs and thereby mobilise hard currency institutional capital from the global markets. His remit comprises transaction selection, execution and portfolio management, and he collaborates closely with the Impact Committee to ensure the greatest climate impact of the portfolio. GGC’s capital comes from the United Kingdom’s Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office through its MOBILIST programme, the Green Climate Fund, the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, the United States Agency for International Development with Prosper Africa, and Norfund.
Prior to GGC, Christopher spent over 10 years at Moody’s Ratings covering the infrastructure and project finance sector, where he established himself as a leader in the assessment of complex transactions with novel credit enhancements including guarantees and political risk insurance. He successfully led Moody’s ratings process for path breaking EMDE project finance and green bond deals in Europe, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa and helped strengthen the agency’s work in Asia and Latin America. He worked on several high profile structured transactions including EMDE securitisations with sustainability tranches and the world’s first green covered bond under Luxembourg law.
Christopher holds an M.Phil in International Development from St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford, a B.S. in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and is a CFA charterholder.
